Dear Parents and Families,

Our eighth-grade Career Prep students will participate in mock interviews on Thursday, October 1, 2026 and we are seeking volunteers to serve as interviewers.

Mock interviews give students valuable real-world experience practicing communication, professionalism, and responses to common interview questions. Interacting with volunteers from different professional backgrounds also helps students gain meaningful industry exposure and better understand the skills and behaviors employers value.

Each volunteer will interview approximately four to five students during the selected class block. The Career Coach will provide the general interview questions and a scoring rubric, so no special preparation is required.

If you are available to assist, please complete the volunteer sign-up form and indicate the class block(s) you can support. Volunteers may sign up for more than one time slot.

The interviews will take place in the media center at Liberty Middle School. Volunteers should park in the guest parking area and check in through the front office. Additional details from our career coach, Jodi Jones, and a Google Calendar invitation will be provided after volunteer availability has been confirmed.

Ms. Thompson’s Digital Publishing Tools class teamed up with our media specialist, Ms. Singley, to create an engaging, hands-on lesson on email etiquette. Students used printed sentence strips to identify and organize the essential parts of a professional email, including the subject line, greeting, body, and closing. They also learned how to prioritize information so their messages are clear, purposeful, and easy to understand.

This collaboration highlights the purpose of Digital Publishing Tools, an elective designed to help students confidently and responsibly use digital applications and platforms. What a practical and creative way to build communication skills students will use well beyond the classroom!
