Welcome to Robotics Club at LMS!

Interest Meeting Wednesday, August 26 3:30-4:00 in Blue 238

If you missed the Interest Meeting, you can still join the club! Click here for the link to the slides we went over. To join us, just fill out the Google Form (QR code and link on flyer above) and then come to Blue 238 after school on Monday or Wednesday (we walk down and work in Purple 110). We meet until 5:00 pm, and pick up is in carline. The newcomers-only meeting is Monday, August 31 until 5:00 pm and is optional. The regular meetings for all students start Wednesday, September 2.

What We Do: From September to February, students will collaborate through the engineering and design process to design, build, and test robots that will compete in local competitions, which are typically held on Saturdays. Students will learn important academic and life skills, such as teamwork, organization, problem-solving, perseverance, communication, and professionalism. There are roles available for a variety of interests and skills, such as researcher, builder, coder, notebook manager, and driver. If students make it to State, they will compete at the state competition in February, and if they make it to Worlds, they will compete in April also.

There are also opportunities for drone challenges. We have never competed in the drone competitions before, but you could be a part of our first ever drone team!

When We Meet: Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 pm (newcomers Aug. 31 and all students Sep. 2)

Where We Meet: Blue 238, and then we will go down to Purple Pod 110 CTE Lab together

Fees: This year’s fee will be about $120 that can be paid online or by cash/check to me (exact amount will be determined soon). This fee covers team registration for competitions. This amount may increase depending on if we do T-shirts or if we make it to State or Worlds.

Competitions: We typically attend three competitions (Saturdays in December - February) to try and qualify for State. Competitions generally run from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The closest competitions tend to be held in Hartselle, Arab, and the Birmingham area. A competition schedule will be announced in the Fall once all competitions are listed.

25-26 Season Achievements (Mix & Match):

1st Place Teamwork - Team 35758A "TekLions" with Peter G., Aayush P., Rohin S., Jakari S., Razeen B., and Braxton M.

  • 2nd in Qualification Matches (Average Score of 106.4)
  • 1st in Finals (Score of 170)
  • Invitation to the State Championship in Auburn

24-25 Season Achievements (Rapid Relay):

Middle School Excellence Award Runner-Up: Team 35758C "The Olympians" with Jonah Y., Rayn C., Henry W., and Aaron C.

  • Overall high-scoring robot, notebook, and interview
  • Invitation to the State Championship in Auburn (placed 12th in Robot Skills)
