Mr. Casey Smith’s Pre-AP World History students jumped right into thinking, talking, and debating on day one! Students analyzed different quotes about why we study history, responded to each perspective, and then got up to share and discuss their thinking with classmates.
Those conversations naturally led into their first classroom debate, where students began responding not only to the quotes, but to one another’s ideas. Students loved the opportunity to move around, share their opinions, and hear different perspectives from their peers.
What a great way to start the year while giving students early practice with the skills they’ll use all year long: analyzing perspectives, supporting ideas, listening to others, and engaging in academic discussion.
