Welcome to Liberty Middle School! I am elated to serve as one of the Assistant Principals and am looking forward to a productive school year! I believe the ultimate purpose of education is to create a learning environment that is safe, student friendly, nurturing, and provides various opportunities for all students to achieve success while experiencing a curriculum that allows for academic, physical, social and emotional growth with the ultimate goal of helping all students to become productive citizens.
I grew up in Toney, Alabama, am the youngest of four children, married my high school sweetheart Charles, and we have two daughters Addysyn and August! I am a high school graduate of Hazel Green High School. After high school, I attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and went on to teach 9-12th grade English at East Nashville Magnet High School. While teaching high school English in Metro Nashville Public Schools for seven years, I attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee earning my Masters of Education, Educational Specialist, and Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership & Supervision; I also graduated from Vanderbilt University's Principal's Leadership Academy.
After seven years of teaching, I became Assistant Principal at Cane Ridge High School in Metro Nashville Public Schools, where I led the Academy of Architecture and Construction for two years, accredited and deemed a model academy by the National Career Academy Association. Afterwards, I accepted a position in Madison City Schools in September of 2014 as The Academy and Alternative School Administrator and served in this position for four years. I am excited to begin my fifth year in Madison City Schools as Assistant Principal of Liberty Middle School! Please feel free to contact me anytime regarding any questions or concerns you may have at tdstewart@madisoncity.k12.al.us.
