My name is Kary Roberts and I am thrilled to be at Liberty Middle School as one of the Assistant Principals this year! I am excited about working with such an awesome faculty and staff and such wonderful students and parents! I am looking forward to getting to know each of you this year and hopefully for years to come.
I have been in education for 14 years and began my career at Highland School as a Middle School Science Teacher (grades 6-8) and Reading Teacher (grades 7-8). I worked at Highland for 6 years before moving to Rainbow Middle School to teach 7th grade Science for a year. From there I transferred to West End High School in Walnut Grove, Alabama where I taught for 6 years. At WEHS I taught 7th grade Science, 8th grade Science, General Biology, Honors and Pre-AP Biology, Botany, Zoology, Anatomy & Physiology, AP Biology, and Forensic Science.
I graduated with my AS degree from Snead State Community College in 1997. In 2001 I earned a BSEE in Secondary Ed from Jacksonville State. After teacher for several years, I decided to go back to school for graduate studies. at The University of Alabama I earned my MA (Secondary Ed/Biology) in 2006, an EdS (Secondary Ed/Biology) in 2007, Class A certification in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2008, and finally a PhD in Secondary Curriculum & Instruction in 2011.
I have been married to John Roberts for over 16 years and together we have 4 children. Cleary is 22 and a senior at JSU, Collyn is 19 and a Sophomore at JSU, TJ is 19 and he is working full time while living his dream as the drummer for the Brooke Danielle Band (playing venues all over the southeast), Cale, our youngest is 15 and a Sophomore at WEHS. We currently live in Boaz, AL but may be looking to move to this area very soon.
Please don't hesitate to contact me for any reason. I am so honored to be here at Liberty and I know it is going to be a wonderful year!
